Before photos of our avian facility, the Ruth Melichar Bird Center
Vern’s* Duckville sign has seen better days and Vern decided to retire it. We are a bit saddened at the prospect as it was one of our first signs, and it holds a place deep in our hearts as it has been on Duckville since the early 2000’s.
*Vern Buchta is our ‘GO-TO GUY’ and has single-handedly repaired, rebuilt, realigned, retrenched, rewired, reconstructed, replumbed, rescreened, reconfigured practically everything on the premises. Vern has spent his own time and money working his tail off since early 2000. Vern, a million thanks to you always! We couldn’t exist without you.
AFTER photos of RMBC with New Siding & Paint
We moved into this barn in 2000. It was built in 1910 and remodeled in 1999. The years and weather had taken its toll on the tongue & groove 10″ cedar siding over the past 100 plus years and finally the repairs weren’t worth doing anymore. In the late summer and early/late fall of 2015, we were able to have all of the buildings re-sided with Hardie-board and repainted. Hardie-board is a cement based siding which is excellent for repelling insects, fire-proof and will outlast most of us. Thank you to the MBF for a much needed grant which made our ‘new sleek look’ possible.
