Screech Owls

Director Jennifer Rockwell got a call from a couple who explained that they were trying to cover a cavity outside their house and found these baby screech owls. Unable to leave them there, they were taken from the cavity and brought into the bird center.

Infested with fleas and covered in their own feces, they were treated and cleaned up. They were rehabbed until they were 2 weeks old then put into a hack box for another 2 to 3 weeks. Jennifer disguised herself when feeding to eliminate any human contact as they imprint super fast. After the 2 to 3 weeks in the hack box, it was opened and they were released. They were banded by James McKinley.
